Mom's Funeral

Mom's Funeral was wonderful. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post this, however for those of you who don't know, there is a funeral fall out and I was experiencing that last week. Mostly it is a lot of sleeping and trying to recoup after such an event.

My family is amazing. Heather kept us all together with her unwavering strength. She would always put on a great face and deal with whatever needed to be handled. Ketra did a great job of getting the program together and making sure all the little details were handled. Joe and Michelle were a great help anywhere they were needed along with Derrick and Catherine. I'm sure Craig and Bruce felt like the nanny would because they had to take care of kids. All in all everything went off without a hitch. There were tons of flowers, more cards and even some of mom's creations there to show how much she is loved.

The biggest concern for the family, believe it or not, was getting mom's wig there on time. We had many phone calls and lots of help from The Assesory Shop in South Town Center in Utah helping to make sure we got one. My thanks to Erica in the shop who gave up a portion of her vacation to make phone calls to the company we ordered from. She was a huge help. Ketra had Heather Benson, who has cut mom's hair a lot, come over and style and cut the wig so it looked like mom. When Heather put it on we couldn't believe how much she looked like Aunt Vickie, mom's sister. Even in death mom helped us to laugh.

Dad left for a fishing trip the Tuesday after the Funeral. He had a great time and it was very healing for him. It still is so weird for me to think that my mom won't just pick up the phone and call me. She always had some scheme going that she needed help with. Usually it involved the family, crafts or Christmas. I think that is one thing I will miss the most. Scheming with my mom.

Thanks to all of you who were in attendance. Ketra said there were many. She did a great job on the Life Sketch. It was funny and truly displayed my mom's humor. I'm not sure dad could have gotten through the day without Heather. She and Joe Mike have been his rocks for this entire journey. Thanks also if you sent flowers or cards or all the wonderful food we received, it was all appreciated and we felt loved. As a side note, Jordan DeMille is my mom's niece, Stacey Taylor is amazing and in this blog many times, Kent Mackay is a good friend of the families. Heather is in the program just not listed.

I'll try to get my siblings to write one of their favorite memories of mom still. I would really like to have that on this web sight.
